Company director

Qualifications: The company director has an extensive background in ICT and business studies having received an MA in 2000. Her first degree was in Modern English (1995), which contained modules on Journalism. These 2 disciplines provided the basis for the New Media and PR business. In addition to Web Design learnt during the MA she took on a PG Cert. in ICT, sitting in on the same modules as undergrads, but only completing a quarter of a degree. Here she learnt Graphic Design, Web Design and Computer Modelling as well as some Programming. She also sent herself off to the E-Academy in Cardiff Bay to learn Advanced Access and became MS Certified as an advanced user. Much of the design she has learnt has been self-taught from tutorials and playing around with the software packages. There have not been many days in the last 7 years when she has not used PhotoShop or Illustrator. These days Search Engines are her fascination and Flash animation. The director has 10 years experience as a freelance designer building bespoke websites and content management systems for 30 companies in Wales.

Work experience:

Teaching: Graphic Design and Web Design at University of Wales, Lampeter on a part time basis and has done for the past 5 years.

Research: worked as a researcher for Chwarae Teg and Pro'ICT (2000-2003) having published a book called "Women Starting Businesses" and helped create a software tool for girls choosing a career path in ICT - a tool she designed from scratch using 64 ICT careers.

PR: In 2004 she turned her hand to PR where she has worked as a part time publicity officer for Objective 1 in Ceredigion, looking after 66 local projects, helping them launch, writing press releases and features and also designing and publishing 100% of the content for the www.euceredigion.co.uk website - which she still maintains for the local council on a part-time basis.
